Finding Stillness in the Noise: Skincare Rituals, Summer Reads, and the Art of the Slow Day
There is a gentle magic in the morning before the world rushes in. A quiet space where the city is still waking up, and the only immediate demand is to just breathe, slow down, and exist entirely in the feelings of the moment.
Lately, I’ve been craving that intentional stillness. My latest YouTube video captures exactly that—a realistic, unfiltered look at an introvert’s slow day, filled with the simple rituals that anchor me when life starts moving a little too fast.
Morning Grounding & The Balcony Ritual
The day began in the quietest way possible, with only the soft sound of my pen scratching against paper. Putting my heart out into my journal always feels like a gentle, grounding hug—it’s beautiful how just a few written words can take a heavy chest and make it feel completely light.
Afterward, I slowly brewed a warm cup of coffee, letting the rich aroma fill the kitchen, and stepped out onto the balcony. Listening to the unexpected chorus of birds singing over London felt like a tiny, beautiful gift. It’s in these pockets of stillness where we can truly layer on our routines with intention.
A Curated Skincare Unboxing: The Clarins Collective
Taking care of my skin has always been a form of self-care, and I was so thrilled to share my second order since joining the Clarins Collective creator program! Creating content with brands I have genuinely loved and bought with my own money for years just makes everything make sense.
With summer here (even if London skies can be unpredictable!), SPF is my absolute priority. Here’s a peek at what I unboxed:
Glowing Sun Oil High Protection SPF 30: A beautiful body oil that hydrates and leaves the skin with a stunning, healthy glow.
SPF Stick for the Face: This is my first time trying a sun protection stick, and it is absolute genius. The packaging is so sleek and thin that it fits perfectly into any handbag for on-the-go application without getting your hands dirty.
Clarins Spray Deodorant: A repurchase that feels completely weightless and never sticky.
I also picked up some beautiful spa-vibe samples, including the Total Cleansing Oil, the Firming Treatment Essence, and the Body Scrub for Smooth Skin.
My Current Summer Book List
When it comes to books, I feel the exact same way as I do about fragrances: I love the idea of a signature, but I can't gravitate toward the same one all the time because I don't feel the same every day. My reading list right now reflects exactly that shift in mood:
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion Sitting on the balcony with my coffee, the heavy weight of Didion's words felt raw against the morning stillness. While it reads deeply of grief and truth, there is something profoundly healing about getting lost in it while a soft breeze turns the pages. I was instantly hooked.
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami This has been my trusted companion for the tube on my way to work. It's a pleasant, easy, and beautifully written story.
Seven Days in June by Tia Williams My next read on the horizon! I’m saving this one for a fun, pleasant, and easy summer escape once I finish my current stack.
Slowing down isn’t about doing nothing; it’s about doing things with a full heart and giving yourself permission to just be.
