The Shape of Water

I have got a new book and I am back to one of my favourite Italian writers: Andrea Camilleri. This time I chose "The Shape of Water", a 1994 novel which is actually the very first novel in the internationally popular Inspector Montalbano series.

The story goes like this:

Mr Luparello, a renowned local engineer and leading political figure, is found dead in a car at a notorious prostitution spot on the outskirts of Vigata. The coroner rules that he died of a heart attack following an amorous encounter. Fending off the pressure from prominent ecclesiastical figures who wish to keep the case under wraps and navigating the intricacies of local party politics, Inspector Montalbano goes about making sense of the available evidence, including the discovery of an expensive necklace found at the site of the murder.

Picking his way through a labyrinth of high-comedy corruption, delicious meals, vendetta firepower, and carefully planted false clues, Montalbano can be relied on, whatever the cost, to get to the heart of the matter.

This is such a good read! Stephen Sartarelli has done an amazing job in translating the book from the Italian.

Hope you have a great day!!
